m
ission Statement
The Allen Center for the Performing Arts exists to enrich the community through the performing arts. We hold core to our values; educational excellence, exceptional customer service and a family oriented and friendly environment. We aim to contribute to society by creating better singers and musicians, developing their talents into strengths, and influencing the direction of their music experience to be constructive and healthy for individuals self image, their world view, families and our society. Only a small percentage of students continue a career in music and the arts, so our objective is that each student will walk into life and adulthood with tools that will positively
support every aspect of their life, work, and relationships. We also labor to remove the barriers that would hinder music from being a lifelong joy and investment.
O
ur Passion
We are passionate about creating musical opportunities for those who normally would not have such opportunities. For the community, we create family friendly music and arts opportunities. For our students, we create access to quality music education as well as tools to learn, create, share and reflect upon.
We believe that a community can heal, stabilize, and thrive when they unite. Education and the arts are two of the areas that have the ability to cross cultural and economic boundaries, but often serve as a way to separate and define people. We believe that with the right intention and effort we can foster an environment where different cultures and backgrounds can meet and learn, create and share their passions and gifts. We also believe that we can be a change agent in our society by creating, promoting, and teaching "life constructive" music. We intend to build music skill in our participants and at the same time rehearse positive attributes into the fabric of their lives through our music and curriculum. This would include the values of self esteem, resilient attitude, embracing personal responsibility, goal setting, self worth, and the value of making a contribution. We believe that the music of our society is often filled with messages that are contrary to the elements described above and we feel the calling and duty to create a new standard of what music can be from the ground up.
